About this movie

Popular Chicago weatherman Dave Spritz (Nicolas Cage) has a shot at the big time when a national morning television show calls him for an audition. Professionally, Dave is on top of the world, but his personal life is in complete disarray. The harder he tries to hold on, the more he loses his grip. His painful divorce, his Pulitzer Prize-winning dad's (Michael Caine) illness, and trouble with his kids have Dave poised on the knife's edge between stability and calamity. Trying to gain control of his situation, Dave slowly comes to realize that life, much like the weather, is completely unpredictable.

but not quite. Nicholas Cage is wonderful at playing defeatist type characters, like the one in this film. His mostly emotionless performance, along with a similar performance by Michael Caine (to even greater affect), somehow made this movie work that would otherwise be DOA.

Probably the most human movie I've seen in a very long time, for better or for worse. It was hard to watch, not because it was bad but simply because so much of it strikes so close to real life.

This is easily one of my top few favorite movies of all time. The atmosphere is so tense and awkward. The blue color hue. The life lessons in this movie. I wish more people knew of this movie because its incredible.
