About this movie

With this passion project, screenwriter-producer-director Martin Rosen brilliantly achieved what had been thought nearly impossible: a faithful big-screen adaptation of Richard Adams’s classic British dystopian novel about a community of rabbits under terrible threat from modern forces. With its naturalistic hand-drawn animation, dreamily expressionistic touches, gorgeously bucolic background design, and elegant voice work from such superb English actors as John Hurt, Ralph Richardson, Richard Briers, and Denholm Elliott, Watership Down is an emotionally arresting, dark-toned allegory about freedom amid political turmoil.

Loved this when I was 9 and was deeply affected by it. Just watched it with my own eight-year-olds who loved it as well (we’d read the book together first). Full of darkness and light, and real struggle and animal violence that will horrify some parents, especially those who like their movies more Disneyesque.

I don't know why people think it's a bad movie, it's a great movie, I was 11 when I first watched it and I watched it many times and as I got older and watched it more..it started making more sense because I'm more mature so like parts of the movie make more sense now then they did back then and it's a magical movie it takes you into the world of WD just watching it..there should really be an online game of it for PS4, Androids, and PC...it's a good movie many people roleplay it on many games and Instagram

Yes this movie is dark and gritty. It has death, blood, and can be gruesome just like Plague Dogs and Felidae but life isn't always pretty. The negative things in life only make the good things shine all that brighter. Also it helps bring the good guys together. Honestly I think people who complain about these movies are forgetting that there's just as much violence in the MCU. Hell kids watch IT and you're going to wine about cartoons that are 20+ years old. Review and read up on stuff before you let your kids watch stuff.
