About this movie

From the producer of AMERICAN PIE and the filmmakers behind the critically-acclaimed BREAKUP AT A WEDDING comes this refreshing coming-of-age comedy about finding love and the thrilling first moments of adulthood. When high school friends reunite over their first holiday break during college, they discover just how much they have changed while their town of Hollidaysburg has stayed the same. Within hours of his return, former prom king, Scott (Tobin Mitnick) is dumped by his now-depressive girlfriend, discovers his parents have sold his childhood home, and must prepare to say goodbye to his beloved town forever. Meanwhile, Scott's acquaintance and quasi “kid sister” Tori (Rachel Keller) is miserable because of a domineering best friend who she's outgrown, but can't seem to shake. When the events of the weekend throw Scott and Tori together, an unlikely romance blossoms. HOLLIDAYSBURG was featured on THE CHAIR, the Starz TV series that documents two directors as they adapt separate movies from the same screenplay.

I wasn't expecting too much from this movie considering it had a first time director and the film itself didn't look too exciting when watching "The Chair." However, I was actually surprised at how "real" this movie was....It was a comedy but it wasn't over the top and I felt like I was watching real life. I understand some people won't care if it's realistic or not but I think it suited this story perfectly. I knew the director was a writer before directing this movie and it definitely shows! Her dialogue is so witty and charismatic, and just fun. I am definitely going to watch this movie again.

Anna took a much better approach to this movie than Shane, and I hope she is rewarded for it, though I am certain that a larger fan base will doom her chances, regardless of quality. The main problem I had with this film is that it felt a little long, and I had trouble telling Tori and Heather apart in some scenes, as they looked too similar.

"Hollidaysburg" shows the true nature of young adults finding themselves in the world. Not only is it quirky but demonstrates the power of a connection between two seemingly unlikable people. I believe this film to be a better representation between the two directors feature on "The Chair"
