About this movie

From the producers of THE KING'S SPEECH comes this remarkable true story of Robyn Davidson (Mia Wasikowska of ALICE IN WONDERLAND, JANE EYRE), a young woman who leaves her urban life to trek through almost 2,000 miles of sprawling Australian desert. Along her journey of self-discovery, she meets National Geographic photographer Rick Smolan (Adam Driver of TV's GIRLS), who begins to photograph her life-changing voyage.

I really loved 'Tracks'. As a film the movie is deep and moving, beautifully shot and beautifully acted. But the main flaw this film suffers is relatability. I happen to have a very avid interest in the history and culture of Australia but it's easy to see how this film would fly under the radio of anyone who doesn't which is a shame because it's more of a story about one woman against the world. But for me personally, 'Tracks' was a favorite film for the year. I urge anyone to see it.

Other than a few scenes of animals dying this is safe for the whole family. With a young daughter, I would not hesitate letting her watch the movie when she could comprehend it. The movie depicts determination and overcoming adversity.
