About this movie

Master auteur Kore-eda Hirokazu's wry and charming new dramedy THE TRUTH pairs French screen icons Catherine Deneuve and Juliette Binoche for the first time, as a celebrated actress and her estranged daughter whose tentative reunion offers an opportunity to either repair or irrevocably fracture their relationship. Fabienne is one of the great stars of French cinema. She reigns amongst men who love and admire her. However, she has a problematic relationship with her daughter Lumir, a screenwriter. When Lumir and her husband return to Paris with their young child, things come to a head with the publication of Fabienne's memoir: the reunion between mother and daughter quickly turns confrontational as truths are told, accounts are settled and love and resentment are confessed.

Liked the film...it was nicely paced...lovely performances...script sophisticated...however, it did peter-out a bit towards the end and ultimately I wasn’t too sure what it was all about... I note that finishing a film always makes or breaks it no matter how interesting the beginning and the middle is - the end reveals it as a great one or a reasonably enjoyable one...this one was only reasonably enjoyable and not a great one - failing toward the end and ultimately a little disappointing !
