About this movie

From the Producer of Alice in Wonderland comes a new vision that turns a legendary tale into an action-adventure epic. The evil Queen Ravenna (Academy Award winner Charlize Theron) will rule forever if she can take the life of Snow White (Kristen Stewart), so she dispatches the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) to track her down. But the wicked ruler never imagined that the Huntsman would train the girl to become a brave warrior, skilled in the art of war. Filled with intense battles and spectacular visual effects, Snow White & the Huntsman is a thrilling experience that "shouldn't be missed" -- Shawn Edwards, Fox-TV.

I was very under-whelmed by this movie. Aside from a notable performance from Charlize Theron, the actors and by extension the entire movie felt confused. For a while there I thought I was watching Princess Bride. The dark and evil forest which no one was to enter, had everyone in it at one point. I blinked, and I thought I was watching Return of The King. This included a nice little jot through some New Zealand like terrain. All that was missing was someone tossing an apple back to one of the dwarves. I blinked again, and now I am watching Joan of Ark... I honestly don't think Kristen Stewart can act. Her one-line facial expressions were strained.

Having Kristen Stewart as the main actress should have been enough of a clue, but I still persisted watching this on the plane. Definitely not worth the effort...

It has some good elements, but they were cobbled together poorly. Some moments of the film relied on a foundation that was never built, or edited out, to be interesting. Others just felt corny to the point of cringing. That said, it was pretty to look at. It felt like it had potential, but they tried to cram too much into their allotted time.
