About this movie

Stephen Boyd, Donald Pleasence and Raquel Welch star in this imaginative sci-fi adventure. When a scientist who holds the secret of miniaturization goes comatose, a team of specialists travels inside his body to try to repair a dangerous blood clot. But with his body's defenses fighting them, and a saboteur on the team, it's a race against time to operate before the miniaturization wears off!

I was quite surprised that for a film so old, I was so captured by it. Of course, I cannot judge women's roles based upon today's standards, but Raquel Welch was still quite bold and I appreciated it! I loved the scientific nature of the adventure, with the whole 007 type thing taking a background number. Although we have far more inner body visuals now, I still found the perspectives in this relevant and I was pretty consumed with curiosity at where they were and what would really happen if they did what they did. The only question I still have was about the antibodies at the end. That single question wasn't really answered. I still have a bit of a "what the heck happened there" feeling. If you appreciate Star Trek IV "The Voyage Home", you will appreciate Leonard Rosenman's musical composition work. The beautiful brassy tones he used at the end were very apt. The rest of the Atonal sounds throughout the movie made for mystery and suspense. I think if I had been around to see this in the theater when it released, it might have actually been scary as all get out. Today, it was slightly nerve wracking, just a tiny bit hokey, and inspiring.

Way ahead of it's time; made when masculinity wasn't toxic, and women - well Raquel Welch says it here at her sexy best! Amazing how much they could do without CG!

This was a really cool movie back in the day. I don't know why, with today's cgi, they never remade it.
