Not the worst Superman movies ever made, I'm looking at you Superman 3! Don't listen to those Fan Boys crying fowl. Those guys don't know who Superman or any other Comic character really is. Remember Superman in the Comics used to do all kinds of crazy things (Blow out Suns like Candles, killed people, reversed time etc...) Don't beleive me look it up.

Let's not kid around here, Superman returns feels a lot less like it's own original thing and more like a remake of the original 1978 Superman. The problem is that the movie isn't very fun or engaging and Brandon Routh just isn't a very charming or likeable Superman. Kate Bosworth's Lois Lane also lacks the charm that Margot Kidder had in the role of Lois Lane. If the characters could have been more emotionally engaging, interesting or likeable, Superman Returns might have been a decent film. The problem is that this movie has virtually nothing to offer to the audience other than a glorified remake that wants so bad to feel like a throwback to the old days. The biggest problem as I said is Superman. It may not be so much Brandon Routh's fault as it is the fact that he's just not Christopher Reeve. Nobody is ever going to capture the magic of him as Superman or the magic of the original 1978 classic. That's all there is to it. Now don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with doing something that feels like a remake, it's just that the movie feels like it's missing the heart and soul that made the original Superman film so magical and memorable.

However overlooked it may be, director Brian Singer's partial reboot of the 1978 Superman film series is probably the best Superman film to date. Shame that it didn't launch any sequels. One can only imagine how much better a DC film universe based on this particular Superman film might have fared over the current DCEU anchored upon the decidedly mediocre Man of Steel film.
