About this movie

Gripping human drama. Sumptuous period epic. Glorious celebration of the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This marvelous winner of eight Academy Awards(R) portrays the rivalry between the genius Mozart (Tom Hulce) and the jealous court composer (Best Actor Oscar(R) Winner F.Murray Abraham) who may have ruined Mozart's career and shortened his life.

In my opinion in order to like this movie, I think you must appreciate and listen to classical music in general, some of the story yes is fictionalized but the music adds so much to the movie. I like the scene with the piece Serenade No 10. There's no reason why it should receive anything less than 4 or 5 stars.

Visually stunning film, excellent screenplay and direction, powerful acting performance from F. Murray Abraham. In the words of it's screenwriter Peter Schaeffer and based on his stage play, "Amadeus" is a fantasia based on fact. Viennese urban legend yes, but it's a beautiful, compelling and highly engaging film.

A fabulous movie that I will put on my list of favorites seen over the years. It made the legend come to life and created a totally relatable and delightful character, one you would love to know. I could watch this movie again and again and still feel the laugh and cry. Beautifully done with superb acting and period costumes!
