About this movie

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen team up to beat the odds in a film that Peter Travers ofRolling Stone calls "achingly hilarious and heartfelt." Diagnosed with spinal cancer, 27-year-old Adam (Gordon-Levitt) navigates the road to recovery with the sometimes overbearing support of his crude best friend (Rogen), his smothering mother (Anjelica Huston) and an inexperienced therapist (Anna Kendrick). Inspired by the true story, 50/50 is an honest yet hysterically funny account of a young man's journey toward healing.

The movie was amazing! Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt did their thing. Anjelica Huston nailed the smother role. I loved her as Morticia Addams and as Adam's mother in this movie. I cried when he went into surgery. This movie will become a part of my favorite movie collection. I loved how his condition brought his family together, especially towards the end.

Say what you will about Seth Rogen (unfunny, overhyped, played out)...i may even agree at times but the man has his moments & this is one. Of course, JGL is brilliant but that's understood. Based loosely on Seth Rogen's own friend (& 50/50 screenwriter) & his battle with cancer, the film deftly maneuvers through potentially sappy, insulting, melodramatic subjects with the perfect balance of humor & sincerity. Not an Oscar-baiting Philadelphia-esque exercise, but it is an exceptional film.
