About this movie

Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford star in this action-packed sci-fi western from the director of Iron Man (Jon Favreau) that critics call "wickedly original, unlike anything you've ever seen" (Jake Hamilton, Fox-TV Houston, TX). A stranger (Daniel Craig) stumbles into the desert town of Absolution with no memory of his past and a futuristic shackle around his wrist. With the help of mysterious beauty Ella (Olivia Wilde) and the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford), he finds himself leading an unlikely posse of cowboys, outlaws, and Apache warriors against a common enemy from beyond this world in an epic showdown for survival. 2011 Universal Studios. Enjoyed the depth. People who write these reviews take themselves too seriously. And the ire they report when a movie is not what they expect is all about them and not the movie. The premise, the title, of this movie, like many, detracts from the content. It was a gritty western that developed several characters (and peoples and cultures) well and quickly. It related much of the difficulty and pain that came from living in the west. I don't think Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford would have signed onto a project if it did not have this depth. And they put it to the screen in a palpable way. Unfortunately, producers who want blockbuster R.O.I. and use the "Aliens vs. X" vehicle draw in a paying crowd that ultimately misses the nuance, the deeper meaning, or the point. Much like Battle for L.A. It's a good watch if you like the raw presentation of a period piece and are not distracted by the aliens in the plot. If you want ninjas, explosions, and Avengers you'll only be mildly satisfied.

Like the title implies, this film is chock full of gun-toting Cowboys and laser-wielding abducting Aliens. In this bizarre mix you'll find tons of action and intrigue with an exciting twist towards the end. This is definitely nothing to take too seriously but it was a lot of fun to watch.

Great movie - a lot of fun to watch. Great twist on your traditional 'alien invasion/attack' movie. If the idea of the old west+aliens is holding you back - dont worry, they do a pretty good job of it and this movie is a blast to watch.
