About this movie

Disgraced journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) accepts an invitation to surreptitiously investigate a forty year old unsolved murder on behalf of the victim's uncle, Swedish industrialist Henrik Vanger (Christopher Plummer). Meanwhile, tattooed hacker Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), hired to investigate Blomkvist, discovers the truth behind the conspiracy that led to his fall from grace. Thrown together by fate, the unlikely duo uncovers a secret history of murder and sexual abuse festering beneath the veneer of Sweden's industrial past, all the while drawing closer to a quiet evil waiting to engulf them both. © 2011 Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures Inc. Do yourself a favour & watch the Swedish original. If you watch this mess from Hollywood what you'll see is a virtual copy of the original - every shot even to POVs are stolen from it- only difference is that the Swedish 1 had great actors & this 1 does not! Craig is so clueless that in the middle of winter in the north of Sweden he doesn't even bring a single pair of gloves! Lisbeth is a total caricature of a punk due to director's poor taste & vision. Complete waste of film. Nuff Said

Even Daniel Craig and Christopher Plummer couldn't pull this one out of the trash bin. They changed not only the storyline, but the actors, the characters, the reasons the characters did the things that they did, the ending, and every aspect of this movie made me long for the subtitled original version-which was a brilliant trilogy. I am disgusted that Sony and MGM would take their own spin and turn it right into the trash.

I read the book right before, which is why I found the movie to move at too quick of pace. The characters could have been developed more or at least closer to the way the book portrays them; the movie just randomly and very suddenly throws in over-convenient scenarios without a clear explanation or steady introduction of the elements to be used to move the plot forward. A classic case of "Chekhov's gun". A fun watch regardless.
