About this movie

Jeff Bridges won an Academy Award® for his role as the richly comedic, semi-tragic, romantic anti-hero, Bad Blake, in the debut feature film, Crazy Heart, from writer-director Scott Cooper. Bad Blake is a broken-down, hard-living country music singer who's had way too many marriages, far too many years on the road, and one too many drinks way too many times. And yet, Bad can't help but reach for salvation with the help of Jean (two-time Golden Globe® nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal), a journalist who discovers the real man behind the musician. As he struggles down the road of redemption, Bad learns the hard way just how tough life can be on one man's crazy heart. Crazy Heart won two Academy Awards® for Best Actor and Best Original Song.

A movie about a washed up country singer who is an alcoholic smoker. Trying to piece his life back together. Maggie Gyllenhaal functions in a weak role as a single mom reporter who falls in love with jeff"s character. Its a sad depressing version of country music's the wrestled if Jeff sings that is the only reason he won an academy award. Colin Farrell is so obnoxious it's ridiculous this actually got through a Hollywood lot.. Go watch the big lebowski, tron, or true grit for some good jeff bridges.

Am I the only one who DIDN'T enjoy this movie? I watched it after perusing a lot of online reviews, even professional reviews raving about it. I love Jeff Bridges in this, he does a wonderful job, but I found the movie ploddingly slow...almost turned it off after an hour, and ended up just FFW to the last 15 minutes. GAH! It was well done, but the story took a LONG time to proceed.

You might need to be a Bridges fan, but he's well placed here. If Lebowski actually had a career and took himself seriously, you might end up with a guy like this. Definitely worth a couple bucks to see. There's a bit of Texas shown so I like it for that too.
