About this movie

Always A Bridesmaid explores how family bonds and enduring friendships help us to discover what it truly means to love.Corina James, is a neurotic, lovable, editor that has a passion for writing but her father has more serious plans for her life which is to take on more responsibility at his company. Meanwhile, she is always the number one choice to be a bridesmaid in her family and friends' weddings. She desperately wants to find love, or at least find out what it means to be in love. After a few bad dates and a meeting with her pastor, Corina decides to date her friend Mark. Things with Mark are going great, but Corina still feels that she isn't worthy of love because she doesn't know what it is. When Mark proposes to Corina on her birthday, she goes on a rampage about how imperfect she is which leaves Mark feeling rejected. After realizing that love isn't perfect and can't be planned, Corina goes to Mark and asks him for time. The two both realize that they have had skewed views of love and vow never to get married until they are absolutely ready. Time will only tell if they will ever be ready and if Corina will always be a bridesmaid.

I watched it on Netflix and I really loved it. You can tell that it was a low budget movie but they did an amazing job. I love that it normalizes black love. It's not something you see everyday. I've watch it almost 20 times and will continue to rewatch it I give it a decent 10/10

I loved this movie! It was charming and funny and romantic and hit all the right beats for me. I also really enjoyed Corina's emotional arc. I kind of love how Mark is THE perfect man. Attractive, chivalrous, saving up to start his own renewable fuel company. The movie is really entirely about Corina's emotional journey, so it was okay to me that Mark is a little one-dimensional (that one dimension being: perfect). BEST exchange of the movie pastor YNB: "Do or do not, there is no try." Corina: "Jesus?" pastor YNB, gravely disappointed: "Yoda!"
