Shrek is a hilarious film that uses parody comedy to appeal to all viewers. The story follows an ogre, Shrek, who is on a quest to get his swamp back from an evil lord and gives a funny take on the friends he makes along the way. Along with tying in clever references to the real world, the entire story is a parody of the hero’s journey, such as having a “mentor” character that is a talking donkey (Eddie Murphy) and through his heroic goal that is really motivated by a selfish desire. I would recommend Shrek to anyone who is looking for a movie filled with great laughs.

{Man} Once upon a time there was a lovely princess. But she had an enchantment upon her of a fearful sort which could only be broken by love's first kiss. She was locked away in a castle guarded by a terrible fire-breathing dragon. Many brave knigts had attempted to free her from this dreadful prison, but non prevailed. She waited in the dragon's keep in the highest room of the tallest tower for her true love and true love's first kiss. {Laughing} Like that's ever gonna happen.
