If you like this film, you will love he HBO remake. If you want to watch the HBO version, make sure you have about eight hours (it's a miniseries.) One a personal note; I would knock Veda's teeth out if she were my daughter.

But have a personal preference for the hard boiled detective film noir. Even outside of personal preference, I can't give this five stars. The reaction to the death of the youngest daughter is so lame as to be farcical, I couldn't get past how casual everyone was about it. "Oh yeah I forgot to mention, she died...moving right along." However it's a great old Hollywood movie, and I agree with the basic premise of overindulgent parenting creating monsters.

if you've seen this movie don't tell your friends the ending and if you're just watching it believe me the ending is worth the wait..enjoy!
