About this movie

Director Osgood Perkins ("The Blackcoat's Daughter") brings his terrifyingly unique vision to one of the most famous of Grimm Fairy Tales in "Gretel & Hansel." After being thrown out of their mother’s home due to extreme poverty, Gretel (Sophia Lillis) leads her younger brother, Hansel (Samuel J. Leakey), through the woods in search of food and work. A kindly Hunter points them in the direction of civilization, and the children soon discover a quaint cottage in the wood, where a fragile old woman, Holda (Alice Krige), offers fresh food and bed. The children hungrily accept Holda’s gifts, with little thought as to what they may be asked of in return. As days pass, Hansel grows weary of Holda’s intentions and the "lessons" she has been teaching Gretel behind his back. As Gretel begins to come into her own, she detects her brother might be in serious danger.

2 1/2⭐ Gorgeous art direction and I'm already a big fan of redhead Sophia Lillis from Stephen Kings It. Already, I might be a little biased in the review *heh* ok, the 'Shrooms scene early on was funny and cute and the memorable scene of the movie for me. Theres not much going on here. Overall, this is a very pretty film to watch and creates a good Halloween mood but it's never scary and nothing much ever happens. It's super slow and chill as a Sunday morning wake 'n bake💯

It's like the new suspiria, made me feel uneasy through the entire film. Save you money even if it's at redbox, not worth the money. I do not know who ruined the film. the actors, director, the lighting crew, the writers and I dont care. Not worth it.

The creators of this tried to use as much filler material as they could, and as a result it just drags on, and on, and on, and on. The only redeeming quality that the movie has is........er, still trying to find it. They would have done good to follow the same type of format as the Freddy vs Jason film, use just enough filler to bring it together and get on with the main event. I don't think the movie is completely horrible, just seriously over drawn out, like almost 30 minutes too long.
