About this movie

Set against the backdrop of the early 1960s, at the height of the Cold War, THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. centers on CIA agent Solo (Man of Steel's Henry Cavill) and KGB agent Kuryakin (The Social Network's Armie Hammer). Forced to put aside longstanding hostilities, the two team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. The duo's only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.

I'm a spy movie fan, Guy Ritchie fan and used to watch the TV show as a kid but this movie just didn't click with me even though I really wanted to like it. It's long, trying really to hard, very cliched with cliched characters who just follow their lines and with cliched plot lines. It's really like a double length TV show and unfortunately a mediocre one at that. Neither gripping nor humorous nor sexy. I somehow doubt there will ever a sequel but if there is perhaps the characters will lighten up an turn into real people. Unfortunately I probably wont be bothering to watch it. I hope Guy hands over the reigns to someone else and can get back to his usual level of quality output with other ventures.

This is a more complex film than others like Jurassic World and Age of Ultron, but it's under rated. It has points that are hilarious and epic at the same time! The main cast is great, Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, and Alicia Vikander have excellent chemistry. I liked it and I'll add it to my collection, but it's kind of forgettable. 7/10

I probably could have given this five stars because I really enjoyed it. I thought the acting was well done, and the characters were a lot of fun to watch as they get to know each other. I can see friendship blossoming and would love to see a sequel and see these guys work together more. There was also some great humor along the way. The only downside I saw was a little bit of a lack of action. The group has a good scene at the beginning and expected a little more throughout. I didn't expect Bond type.
