About this movie

It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.

Just finished watching. I'm a big fan of the Tarzan stories and some of the movies. The first 2/3 of the movie is very good but sadly the last 1/3 lets it down. If only we could of had more of the legend, the wilds of Africa and Jane this movie could of been something special. Watch it for the first 2/3 as it's worth it if you like Tarzan as the man playing Tarzan is magnificent. Jane is amazing and very beautiful. Samual Jackson shines in the limited number of places he appears. The story, sadly, is a mush I don't care to even describe. If only...

A story that takes place when the Belgians were basically raping the Congo - enter another non-African to save the 'savages' and free them from tyranny... If you ignore the irony of this fictional story wrapped in non-fictional historical events, then you might enjoy this. If on the other hand you have an inkling of what happened during the time period, then you'll likely see this as more tripe masquerading as dumb entertainment for the masses.

I was really disappointed in this movie. I convinced my family to watch it and we had to stop it mid movie. Sure a few of the scenes were cool, but the other 96% of the movie was bad. I wasn't sure what was happening and it felt like I was watching Down Town Abbey or something with a similar tone. If you are hoping this movie will bring back your love of Tarzan, please don't watch it. Find a better written movie like Ant Man Joe Dirt.
