The movie SUMMARY is so cringy that I choose not to watch it. “An American slacker […] in Tokyo finds her calling in […] a local ramen house run by a tyrannical chef who doesn't speak of a word of English.” Why in a million years a film reviewer would have the audacity to imply that a Japanese in Japan should know a single word in English? One can make a movie summary appealing without such level of entitlement on a language that is not even the most spoken in the entire world. I get it’s maybe because the protagonist is American and the movie is directed towards American audiences, but USA is a country that recognizes the languages of all its communities, which makes this summary appalling and gives me the hint that this movie is much like the series “Emily in Paris”. How hard is to just say: “An American slacker abandoned by her boyfriend in Tokyo, and not knowing a word in Japanese finds her calling in an unlikely place: a local ramen house run by a tyrannical chef” - Gordon Ramsey behavior kind of sets a tone for “tyrannical chef” be enough of a character descriptor.

It's amazing! The relationships and the comedy. The culture and the struggles. But most of all the RAMEN! I just tell in love with it!
