About this movie

This Sundance® award-winner follows the true story of Oscar Grant (Michael B. Jordan of TV's FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS), a 22-year-old Bay Area resident who wakes up on New Year's Eve, 2008, and decides to get a head start on his resolutions: being a better son to his mother (Octavia Spencer of THE HELP), being a better partner to his girlfriend, and being a better father to T, their beautiful 4-year-old daughter. He starts out well, but as the day goes on, realizes that change will not come easy. As Oscar crosses paths with friends, family, and strangers, we see that there is much more to him than meets the eye. But it is his final encounter of the day with police officers at the Fruitvale BART station that will shake the Bay Area to its very core, causing the entire nation to witness the story and tragic death of Oscar Grant.

I can't say that I enjoyed this film although it truly is a great cinematic work. Our people shouldn't have to needlessly die for good storytelling. I've never cried so much for someone I never knew. No words can really express what I'm feeling right now. It's just not fair. It's not even a fair trade, a good film for a good human. But his story needs to be told. I highly recommend it.

This is about someones life R.I.P Oscar Grant I think if people don't have any positive comments to make than they shouldn't be commenting or saying anything at all how dare someone speak on his life in a negative way or about the movie to me it wasn't a movie it was a life that was lost and it's very sad and the police could of done something else besides put a bullet in his back that was Fucking wrong.

Amazing movie, but so many people are misguided as to what its about...reading some of these reviews tell you its about trayvon martin lol..but if you would simply read the description..or better yet, watch the film you will find out this is not trayvons story, but the story of a completely different young man who was gunned down innocently. May remind some of the trayvon case but this film is based on a different story entirely
