About this movie

Disney Channel charms witches, ghouls and kids alike in Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge. Kimberly J. Brown reprises her role as Marnie in the bewitching sequel to the Halloween favorite. Grandmother Aggie (Reynolds) sweeps Marnie and Sophie off to Halloweentown to investigate a series of strange occurrences. When they arrive, the vibrant community seems to have lost its magic. The citizens, including the gargoyles, are gray and boring. It isn't long before Aggie discovers that her spell book is stolen and the trio decides to set out and find it. They discover that an angry warlock has taken the book and plans to permanently turn every human into whatever costume they are wearing at midnight on Halloween. It's a race against time, as Marnie must use her skills to defeat the young warlock threatening to change Halloweentown for eternity.

I absolutely love this movie with my whole being, as its the perfect movie for Halloween and one of those sequels that surpasses the original. However, I have to dock a star because like Amazon Prime and iTunes, the movie is in the wrong aspect ratio. Because of that, the quality falters and is not as good as the DVD, since it is presented in the correct aspect ratio. If Disney could just distribute these films in the correct ratio and in HD, this would be be given five stars easily.

Just like the first Halloweentown, it's a very hokey straight-to-Disney-Channel movie, but once again it's actually pretty good. It's a revenge plot that makes sense in the series and tries to follow through with the plan from the first film (in a roundabout way). It's a bit jarring that the town square is so different from the first film (which is quickly explained) and listening to what Disney writers think the term "backdoor" means in the tech field is hilarious (and highly unrecommended).

Every Halloween I binge all of the Halloween town movies, so being able to buy all of them on here was perfect. I can watch them anywhere anytime by downloading them on my phone.
