About this movie

Charlyne Yi (KNOCKED UP) does not believe in love, or so she says. At the very least, she doesn't believe in fairy-tale love or the Hollywood mythology of love, and her own experiences have turned her into yet another modern-day skeptic. Charlyne and her friend (and director) Jake embark on a quest across America to make a documentary about the one subject she doesn't understand: love. Determined to find out if it truly exists, Charlyne talks with friends and strangers, scientists, bikers, romance novelists, and children. Then, shortly after filming begins, Charlyne meets a boy after her own heart: Michael Cera (SUPERBAD, JUNO, SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD, YOUTH IN REVOLT). As their relationship develops on-camera, her pursuit to discover the nature of love takes on a fresh new urgency. Combining elements of storytelling, reality, and fantasy, Paper Heart brings a fresh perspective to the modern romance and redefines the classic love story.

I really wanted to like this movie & really thought I would. I thought it would be some quirky movie not unlike those I like. However; it almost physically pained me to get through the first half hour and I considered fast forwarding and instead opted to go make some flavored coffee instead. It was as though Charlyne was forcing herself to speak as though she was super ultra embarrassed only you couldn't tell if she was acting or not; Although if it were just her acting I wondered why she seemed so out of place with what she was doing Actors should've practiced more so that no one looked as though it were ailing them just to interact with one another. The interviews the "real" parts of the movie came across more polished with regular people but even that was never even tied into anything. Just one mesh of stuff thrown in to make a movie with actors I was tricked into believing would act a little bit better. Though I desperately wanted to root for weird girl one of the guys girl she seemed snobbish & tried too hard. No this is NOT a comedy NOT a quirky 1. based on the ending I'm assuming she learned what everyone else does Still not sure although I appreciate the creativity.

While she may be joking, I believe this movie is a great example of the search for love. Plus its hilarious!
