its supposed to be over the top, I understand that. But I have no idea, and I mean absolutely no idea, what this show is supposed to be about, who it should appeal to, and why anyone would watch this. some of the acting is actually good, most of it is actually pretty terrible, with the good acting only making the bad acting even worse. I don't think people should have to wonder if the point was to actually make a show as silly as possible, but I seriously have to wonder what the entire idea was behind this show. I guess I didn't read the comic/graphic novel (or whatever this was made from) but it failed horribly to hook me. The only thing that made me say "wow" is the simple fact that a show with a story line that could have been written by a 6th grader some how made it onto national television.

Just read the comic. AMC does the same thing they do with Walking Dead. Waste the budget on barely the first half of the season then the rest of it is dull and boring. At least Walking Dead can get away with a slow pace sometimes since it is a Zombie Survival plot. You can't get away with that when it comes to Preacher.

The same characters from the comic and the setting from the first few issues however the plot has changed. Genesis looks like it will be an alien entity rather than the offspring of a demon and angel. There's characters not in the book added to this show. They nailed Cassidy and that's what's important. The characters from the books were some of the most amazing characters to be put in a comic and it looks like most of them are here.
