When a close friend is killed in an apparent murder-suicide, Charlie Cale, a cocktail waitress at Sterling Frost Hotel and Casino, senses something is very wrong with this “open and shut” case. Maybe that’s because she has an uncanny talent for knowing when someone is lying. But the more Charlie pieces together, the more her amateur investigation endangers a lucrative business proposition with her shifty casino boss, who is more dangerous than she realizes.

Wounded and living a life on the run, Charlie’s journey comes to a rattling halt when a blown radiator forces her to pay a visit to the last honest mechanic in New Mexico. While the Barracuda gets patched up, Charlie befriends an oddball trucker who knows a thing or two about living off the grid. But when a body is discovered and her new confidant is framed for the murder, it’s up to Charlie to clear her name, even as she evades her own capture.

Short on cash and saddled with an ill-tempered dog, Charlie takes a job at a family-run Texas BBQ joint run by a kindly pitmaster and his brash brother. She proves a quick study when it comes to the art of smoking meats, but soon finds she’ll need to use her finely tuned skills of perception to sniff out the truth behind a carefully staged murder.

Saddled up with a trailer full of merch, Charlie goes on tour across the Midwest with once-popular metal band Doxxxology, a motley crew of has-been rockers who believe they can return to their glory days – all they need is a new hit song to catapult them to fame. But when a member of the band dies in a freak accident, Charlie can’t help but wonder if one of them is willing to kill to get back into the limelight.

While working at the Mossy Oaks Retirement Home, Charlie befriends two rebellious old ladies still living in the wild-child spirit of the '70s. They seem harmless until a dark glimpse of their past bubbles to the surface and a mysterious resident dies. Charlie’s suspicions are aroused, but her prime suspects might have the perfect alibi.

Two washed-up television stars seek out the spotlight by staging a one-night-only performance at the dinner theater where Charlie works. Charlie is no fan of the theater, but she's forced to pay attention when a tragic death occurs on stage. Charlie begins to suspect that one of the play's feuding stars could have played a role… in murder.

Charlie’s chaotic gig at a go-kart complex takes a hairpin turn as she’s throttled into the middle of a Late Model car racing feud. A hotheaded young driver is taking on an aging champion, and their rivalry accelerates at a deadly pace. When the smoke clears, Charlie takes the wheel of the investigation when she realizes someone is lying.

Stumbling upon a workshop filled with monster models, movie miniatures, and creepy creatures, Charlie befriends a master of practical special effects. This filmmaker is running from a painful past, but Charlie encourages him to revisit his legacy and heal from the guilt of a fatal on-set accident. But old demons resurface, and Charlie is left to piece together a new deadly horror.

Stuck in a snowy outpost of the Rocky Mountains with no money or gas, Charlie must team up with a questionable kleptomaniac to escape an oncoming storm. But when a blizzard descends, Charlie finds herself marooned at a desolate snowed-in motel, where she must decipher the deadly tension between the strangers who took her in.

When Charlie receives a surprising offer, her new lease on life only lasts a matter of seconds before she finds herself caught in the crossfire between two ruthless crime syndicates taking aim at one another’s territory. Dangerously exposed and short on allies, Charlie must call upon people from her past while mustering every ounce of scrappy self-preservation to try and make it out of Atlantic City in one piece.
