Season 1 episodes (22)

1 Honey, We've Been Swallowed by Grandpa
9/22/97
Nick feigns illness to avoid going with his grandfather, who leaves but not before inadvertently swallowing his mini-relatives -- van and all. Nick interprets Wayne's help message in the newspaper and, realizing what has happened, rushes to his family's aid. It's a race against the clock as the tiny Szalinskis travel on a "fantastic voyage" through Grandpa's body, seeking a way out before the shrinking effect wears off in three hours.
2 Honey, The House Is Trying to Kill Us
9/29/97
After their home is burglarized, Wayne becomes overly concerned for the safety of his family and invents a home security system for their total protection. F.R.A.N., the Felon Repeller & Accident Neutralizer (patent pending), takes her duties very seriously and involves herself in every facet of the household, from protecting Amy from bad fashion choices to preventing Wayne from eating too much rich pie. Diane is wary of the overprotective computer, not realizing that F.R.A.N. has developed a mind of her own.
3 Honey, I'm Haunted
10/6/97
Afraid of ending up a four-eyed math monkey like his dad, Nick tests out Wayne's new invention -- the Szalinski Retina-Rotator (patent pending), turning the controls up to 150 percent. Nick's enhanced vision allows him to perceive invisible wave lengths on the electromagnetic spectrum; in other words, he can see ghosts. He befriends the spirit of a dead 1930s gangster named Louie "the Loon" Matagrano who died robbing the Matheson Federal Bank. Louie helps Nick develop a tough reputation at school by ghost-merging with him and punching out the school bully.
4 Honey, We're Stuck in the '70s
10/13/97
Amy develops a crush on Mr. O'Donnell, her handsome 37-year-old history teacher. She uses Wayne's time-travel machine to transport herself to 1976 where she hopes to meet up with the teenage version of Mr. O'Donnell and make some history of her own. Wayne travels back in time to rescue his daughter, but the Szalinski Time Hopper (patent pending) malfunctions and the two are stuck in the past. With some help from a romantic memory, Diane and Nick repair the machine -- just in time -- and the Szalinskis are reunited in the present.
5 Honey, I Shrunk the Science Dude
10/20/97
Wayne suffers an attack of jealousy when Nick invites Wayne's younger brother, TV scientist Randy Rude the Science Dude, to speak at the school Science Club assembly. At the last minute, Wayne decides to bring along the shrink ray for a little demonstration of his own, but he accidentally shrinks Randy, the shrink ray and himself. The tiny brothers Szalinski end up as prizes in a McDonald's Happy Meal. As Diane and the kids literally dismantle the McDonald's looking for an address, Wayne and Randy escape Play Doh, cha-cha with a chameleon and put aside their sibling rivalry, before they finally get big again.
6 Honey, You've Got Nine Lives
10/27/97
Even though it means jeopardizing his success with Jennings Labs, Wayne decides to shelve his virtual reality device when he realizes there might be ethical and criminal problems associated with brain-swapping. Diane has work problems, too -- the Addams brief is due in the morning and Quark ate her only copy. When trying to access her back-up file on a computer disk, Diane mistakes the Szalinski Neuron Nudger (patent pending) for a lap-top computer and accidentally exchanges brains with a supercilious cat named Persephone.
7 Honey, I've Been Duped
11/3/97
While mopping up the mess made by his Picnic Pal (patent pending), Wayne unwittingly activates the Szalinski Copy Boy (patent pending) and clones himself. His molecular structure is too unstable to be out in public -- any slight physical contact can result in another clone -- so Wayne sends Clone-Wayne off to Diane's annual company picnic in his place. Clone-Wayne's cheerful innocence and enthusiasm charms everyone there, including Diane, Amy and Nick. Meanwhile, back at the workshop, Wayne has accidentally generated a party-pack of clones -- Slappy, Sneezy, Stinky and Scabby.
8 Honey, They're After Me Lucky Charms
11/10/97
Nick's first attempt at inventing, the Szalinski Jr. Phenomenometer (pat. pending), reflects the boy's interest in luck, magic and other fantastic phenomenon. The gadget doesn't work, but Wayne encourages Nick to believe in himself. Later Wayne and his boss, Mr. Jennings, are testing Wayne's newest -- the Szalinski Finder '49er (pat. pending) -- in an old abandoned mine and discover an actual pot of gold. Wayne wants to turn it over to the police, but a visitation from a leprechaun splits the Szalinski household into believers of magic versus science. The little leprechaun turns out to be a con-artist, just as Wayne suspected, but then five real, full-sized leprechauns show up looking for their pot o' gold. The Irish fairies imprison Diane and Amy in the magic crystal on their shillelagh. Wayne's belief in Nick helps him defeat the leprechaun gang, and as legend dictates, since the gold was returned, he's granted one wish.
9 Honey, They Call Me the Space Cowboy
11/17/97
Wayne uses the revamped Szalinski Time Hopper (patent pending) to take the family back to 1864 for a picnic in early Matheson and to investigate a personal mystery. Despite their efforts at keeping a low-profile, the Szalinskis attract the attention of the Blacklung Gang, a quartet of ruthless desperadoes, and Ar'nox, an Intergalactic Ranger of the Sacred Order who just happens to be patrolling their sector of the cosmos. Before you can say tumbling tumbleweed, the cowboy criminals have hijacked Ar'nox's UFO and are using the alien's technology to rob banks and terrorize the local citizenry.
10 Honey, I Know What You're Thinking
11/24/97
Amy desperately wants to become a "Soche" -- a member of the cool girls' clique at school led by the despotic Tiara. When Amy's attempt at witty banter fails, she turns to Wayne's latest invention to pump up her social skills. The Szalinski Brainiactivator (patent pending) enhances intelligence by accessing the unused 90 percent of the human brain, but since individual brain structures are unique, the gas reacts differently on each person. One sniff of smart-gas gives Amy the ability to read thoughts. She becomes so fascinating, the Soches invite themselves over for a mandatory sleep-over.
11 Honey, You're Living in the Past
12/15/97
Nick gets to relive the ordeal of his own birth thanks to the Szalinski Memory Lane Mobile (patent pending), Wayne's newest invention which allows people to access submerged memories and relive lost details of their lives. Meanwhile, Diane is having problems relating to her young client who's in trouble for shoplifting, and Amy, who's suffering an acute case of adolescent angst, seems distant, too. A power surge leaves her stranded in her 16-year-old brain, and young Diane turns out to be a handful. Grown-up Diane returns in due time, but not before Amy discovers that her mom has a clue what it's like to be a teenager.
12 Honey, I'm Streakin'
1/12/98
Wayne's been working long hours at the lab and neglecting the little things like repairing the screen door for Diane and helping Nick with his homework. Rather than admit that sometimes he tries to do too much, Wayne insists it's just a matter of prioritizing and he promises to become Mr. Nine-to-Five. Unfortunately, Mr. Jennings, his boss, has other ideas and promptly leaves on vacation after assigning Wayne several special projects, including revamping a less-than-satisfactory molecule accelerator that only accelerates one molecule at a time.
13 Honey, Meet the Barbarians
2/2/98
When school budget crunches cause Amy to be cut from the Farber High School basketball team, Diane decides to run for the school board. Diane's hard-hearted opponent in the race, Bruce Patterson, has several ruthless plans to save money, including eliminating textbooks. Unfortunately Wayne has a mishap with the Szalinski Cloud-Buster (patent pending) and costs Diane the support of Principal Dante. To correct his mistake, Wayne hops into the Szalinski Time Hopper (patent pending), but he accidentally sets the dial for 930 AD rather than 9:30 AM and ends up in the middle of a Viking battle.
14 Honey, You Drained My Brain
2/9/98
Diane is trying her first civil case and finds herself overmatched by the brilliant defense attorney E. Joshua Rosencranz. He makes her feel stupid. Fortunately, Wayne has been experimenting with increasing brain power through electrochemical Q-Waves on his Szalinski Ant-ellectual Farm (patent pending). Satisfied that the ants display signs of advanced intelligence, Wayne fashions a portable Q-Wave enhancer -- the Szalinski Thinky-Ring -- to give Diane a mental boost.
15 Honey, He's Not Abominable ... He's Just Misunderstood
2/16/98
Amy twists her ankle in a snowboarding accident while on a school trip to the local mountain resort and is rescued by a friendly Yeti. George the Yeti follows Amy home, and the grateful Szalinskis decide to allow him to stay on as their hidden abominable house-guest until the media frenzy around his sighting dies down. Just when it appears safe to send George back to the wilderness with a supply of frozen TV dinners, a ferocious Sasquatch bursts from the forest.
16 Honey, I'm in the Mood for Love
2/23/98
Wayne figures out a way to distill cocoa pheromone concentrate from chocolate and ends up with a batch of powerful aphrodisiac bonbons. In a plot worthy of Shakespeare, the high school Sweetheart's Dance turns into a midsummer nightmare as everyone falls in love with the wrong person thanks to a puckish Nick with a pocket full of super-chocolates. Meanwhile, Mr. Jennings is temporarily transformed into a creature and crashes the party in search of sweet delights. Merriment ensues. Love's labors are not lost, however, and in the end the star-crossed party-goers are united with their true honeys.
17 Honey, The Bear Is Bad News
3/23/98
Jentech's first project as a toy manufacturer is an unbearably cute stuffed teddy named Fwuffy that says "I wuv you" when you tickle its fuzzy tummy. Wayne thinks the toy could stand a high-tech tune-up and is assigned the task of making Fwuffy special. In short time, Wayne has transformed the simple plaything into a semi-conductive, multitasking, fully interfaceable, voice-activated child play unit. Unfortunately, during its final data download, Fwuffy is infected by a virulent computer virus named Legion.
18 From Honey, With Love
3/30/98
Wayne, code name "P," is secretly recruited to make spy inventions for the Canadian Ministry of Intelligence by Canada's international superspy Dalton Pearce. (Who knew Canada had secret agents?) En route to a special assignment, Agent Pearce has a misadventure with the Szalinski Laser Shaver (patent pending), and Wayne must single-handedly challenge Canada's most notorious supervillain, the disgruntled ex-Mountie Pierre LeBecque. Wayne successfully retrieves a missing Canadian nuclear submarine, the Scotia. This, however, does not conclude Double-oh Szalinski's duties.
19 Honey, I'm Dreaming, but Am I?
4/27/98
Nick's advanced biology class requires the students to dissect a frog and the prospect is giving him nightmares. Meanwhile, Amy has a nightmare of her own -- she's scheduled to take the PSAT and logic is not her long suit. Diane tries psychology to correct the kids' problems, but when that fails, Wayne turns to technology. The Szalinski Dream Scooter (patent pending) allows a wide-awake Wayne to drive right into Nick's dream and kick dream booty, thus making Wayne the first person to enter the Dreamscape without sleeping.
20 Honey, the Garbage Took Us Out
4/27/98
Nick has become an eco-warrior, patterning himself after his latest hero, Roger Persimmons, agent of the EPA. In an effort to regain his son's admiration (and also solve the world's environmental woes), Wayne invents the world's first Refuse Ingesting Protozoa, RIP. Meanwhile, Persimmons has targeted Jentech as number two on his Environmental Enemy list. Jennings must find a way to dump three tons of toxic by-products before the EPA conducts a full inspection of the facilities the next day.
21 Honey, You're So Transparent
5/4/98
Amy takes an internship at Jentech Labs hoping to earn her dad's respect. Unfortunately, her rival Tiara Van Horne is also interning at Jentech and has been secretly sabotaging Amy's equipment. Meanwhile, Mr. Jennings, who's concerned about a corporate spy and irate over Amy's string of mishaps, threatens to fire Wayne if the Chameleonator (an experimental device designed to extract chameleon DNA and replicate its ability to alter skin tones) isn't ready for human use by 5 PM the next day. Amy overhears the threat and self-tests the machine. Instead of being able to change facial tones at will, she is rendered invisible!
22 Honey, It's No Fun Being an Illegal Alien
5/11/98
When Ar'nox, the Intergalactic Ranger, drops by Earth with a gift for his old friends, his star cruiser is hijacked by some Men in Dark Suits working for the Iluminatti, a very old, very powerful secret organization. Wayne offers to help his Karnathian pal retrieve his missing UFO. First stop on their adventure is a local sci-fi convention, where they pick up vital information and Amy has her first close-encounter with a geek. Later, disguised in their own black ensembles, the Szalinskis and Ar'nox infiltrate The Lodge, an abandoned military base in the best Area 51 tradition.
