In a kill-or-be-killed world where starvation is rife and strangers are always dangerous, The Survivalist lives off the grid, and by his wits. When a starving woman and her teenage daughter discover his forest refuge, his loneliness drives him to overcome his suspicion and strike a bargain with them in return for bed and board. But as desire becomes stronger than necessity, the exchange becomes an uneasy, ongoing arrangement which threatens not only his carefully constructed world but also his life. The Survivalist is a captivating thriller from BIFA Debut Director 2015 award-winner Stephen Fingleton and features stellar performances from Martin McCann ('71, Shadow Dancer, X+Y), Mia Goth (Nymphomaniac Part II, A Cure for Wellness) and Olwen Fouéré (This Must be the Place).

Don't dis encore the makers of it though, although for the future of films tie more speaking and action into it to create an all rounded peice with parts of silence where apropriate to create effect . By adding this to the movie it would mean more people would watch it=more profits for next film=more advertisement=CINEMA ACTION

.. but only a small % will understand it, most will puzzeled by the characters actions and state of mind. A lot of research has clearly been done by writer concerning the affects on ones mental health from prolonged lack of nutrition and PTSD with the characters showing unique variance from surprisinly strong and adapted to fearfully cautious but instinctual, .. between them a wise tactile lost soul

Enjoyed this genre a lot thinking I wouldn't, when times get very desperate it's reasonable to be paranoid as shown in this movie. Deep tensions arise when a lone guy who had just lost his only help and trusted company, his brother. Two women arrive on a small patch of land with not more than a Hut he has called home for years since society had collapsed, he grows a few things and traps the odd animal, however, he is pushed to the limit once these two desperate women push their way into his lone existence. Some great twists and turns and shows real human nature when pushed to the limit.
