Quite simply the best series we've watched in ages! It isn't always fast paced, but the battle scenes are gory edge of your seat stuff. You will love and hate some characters in equal quantities, and once you get used to Uthred's strange accent, he will quickly become your new hero. We cannot recommend this enough. Just buy lots of snacks and drinks, because it is definitely binge-worthy.

Quite simply the best drama series on TV! A friend recommended it to me, and it just keeps on getting better. The casting is brilliant and the writing superb. If you're a fan of epic battles, warriors and romance, this is definitely one for you! Keeping everything crossed for a 5th series. The programme has so many more stories to be told from Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Stories on which the programme is based!. Netflix, hurry up and confirm The Last Kingdom for another season!!

Every now again a cracking piece of TV comes along almost under the radar. Doesn't get shown on the mainstream channel and almost goes by unnoticed. This is one of those. It has been a joy to watch and I can wholeheartedly recommended you give it a go, better than Vikings the characters seem more real even if the story is a little fanciful. Loved it and the second series is as good has the first if not better
