About this movie

Testament of Youth is a powerful story of love, war and remembrance, based on the First World War memoir by Vera Brittain, which has become the classic testimony of that war from a woman's point of view. A searing journey from youthful hopes and dreams to the edge of despair and back again, it's a film about young love, the futility of war and how to make sense of the darkest times. 2014 Testament Distribution Limited, British Broadcasting Corporation and The British Film Institute

Having read the book and still own the copy, seen the series in the 1980's.. this was a vast improvement without stops, extremely well acted and good to see Oxford in all its glory... The Leading actress was perfect for the role and I enjoyed her portrayal. Touching scenes with much sadness and loss..but the film took us right back to one of the hardest times in the History of Britain..one in which we all even today share that loss.

I read the book some years ago and couldn't see how it could be made into a good film. However, the book has been stripped and laid bare the human story, having lost nothing of the loss, emotion and futility the memoirs recorded. Excellent on all counts.

I saw this movie in the cinema, I was expecting it to be pretty bad, you know boring. Howver, I was wrong by a long shot. Honestly, it's great and I've never cried at a movie or anything before EVER! I kinda welled up a little.
