I bought the soundtrack a decade ago when the movie dropped but funnily enough, today's the first time I saw it. It was OK. Points for making me tear up near the end. Considering the purging of Hollywood currently going on, it was a winceable moment when the pretender kissed the girl without her permission. Ironically, (hope I'm using this word right), the story is about change yet perpetuates the notion that it's normal to be cruel to animals by consuming their dismembered corpses, bird fetuses and the stolen, pus/blood/feces-filled breast milk of another species. Animals eating animals - real carnivores doing their thing? That's normal. Humans eating animals, is an unsustainable Holocaust that's destroying our only habitable planet, keeping thousands of people starving and letting diseases like cancer thrive, because - take a wild guess where life-threatening diseases originate... OK, it's ten years old, but the fact that eating animals causes cancer was known a century before then; but animal agriculture is a big money-spinning business so of course the truth was hushed up. Not anymore though. You're either vegan or an animal abuser. Don't be an animal abuser. As for the movie, am hugely relieved that Play store made it rentable so I didn't have to buy it. One to watch once in a blue moon, or skip altogether, because frankly it's not that important to humanity.

Ratatouille is NOT "follow your dreams" movie, but a celebration and commentary of how we should approach artistic integrity. It's easy for someone to look at this film on paper and write it off as "kind of stupid," but this film work because it manages to be self aware and creates something meaningful out of it. I champion Ratatouille because it's not just a masterpiece, but one of the greatest pieces of art to come out of Pixar.
