From filmmaker Steven Spielberg comes the science fiction action adventure “Ready Player One,” based on Ernest Cline’s estseller of the same name. The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a reakneck, realitybending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.

Did you read the book? If yes, think of all the best moments... got them? None of them are in the movie. Not a single one. Does that mean the movie is terrible? No. When it tries to follow the book, it is rushed and makes little sense. When it goes for something different, but keeps the spirit of the books, it's quite good. So be prepared for something that doesn't make much sense, is missing great moments but has some fun stuff.

Modernizes the technology used in the original book and makes some narrative shifts to dodge some of the awkward pacing and deux ex machina from the original. Action is great, humour is hit-or-miss.

It's a very good movie and I have nothing else to add that other reviews don't already cover. Any person who has been gaming in the last 10-15+ years will be served!
