Cast a Deadly Spell

This HBO movie of the month. Snuck right by me in the 90s. Dont know how but it did? Tons of talent in front of and behind the camera. Very interesting world they have created, a 40s & 50s era mash-up, populated with Private dicks and dames, magic and gremlins and blood red skies and gargoyles, etc. I found out there was a sequel, also produced by Gale Anne Hurd but this time starring Dennis Hopper in the Fred Ward/Detective Lovecraft role. The sequel is called Witch Hunt (1994) also made for HBO

Not the most original take on the Cthulhu mythos, but Fred Ward sells the noir style perfectly. All in all, an excellent (if somewhat lite) Cthulhu mythos story.

Very enjoyable. Ray Chandler meets Adams family. Well made and written. Excellent cast
