About this movie

From writer Bret Easton Ellis (AMERICAN PSYCHO, LESS THAN ZERO) and director Tim Hunter (RIVER'S EDGE) comes this intense, pulse-pounding serial-killer tale based on actual events. As a strange wave of mysterious drownings of male college students plagues the California coast, Jake struggles to keep his life together at school. Finding himself stalked by a hooded figure (Crispin Glover, BACK TO THE FUTURE) driving an unmarked van, Jake fears he may become the next victim in the killer's horrific spree.

This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The plot wasn't good, and the acting was poor all around. The only two moments worth watching are when the room mate gets hit in the head with a hammer, and the second was when the main character was murdered at the end. The main character was just a dumb mentally ill person with not a shred of sense. It was painful. The whole approach the bad guys used to carry out their crimes was unrealistic, and was not a process that would work. Awful!

This is loosely based.. Not sure why people think this is like the documentary. I enjoyed it as a serial killer movie and didn't even place it in with the real events.. There was a plot. A boy was chosen.. stalked and then kidnapped.. no spoilers here.. the end had a resolution.. not sure why these other comments don't get that.

Cheesy, bad acting, bad writing, and unrealistic. Barely made it through, bad throughout the entire movie. Tried to give it a chance, but it was just awful. If they think sexualizing the main actor the entire movie was enough to carry this atrocity of a movie, they were wrong... Don't waste your money on this garbage.
