Individually, they've starred in the most adrenaline-pumping martial-arts adventures ever. Together for the first time, Jet Li and Jackie Chan join forces to create the greatest epic of them all - THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM. As ancient Chinese warriors, they must train and mentor a 21st century kung-fu fanatic who's been summoned to fight a centuries-old battle and free the imprisoned Monkey King.

The movie mocks the original myth and the boy is not superhuman and is impossible to pick up the magic staff of the monkey, which weighs around 8000 pounds in the story.

It was cool and all, but couldn't help but to see several similarities to the never ending story. Otherwise decent action and an okay plot.

For years I've waited for Jackie Chan and Jet Li to get together. Yet somehow I felt it was a bit late. Neither were at their prime when this movie was made. Chan already made his mark after bringing some of his works to America and starring in Rush Hour. But Li had trouble finding his place in the movie space. Still, you kinda knew that these two will make a movie together. The two martial arts superstars reprise their best screen characteristics for a unique movie set in the Journey to the West universe. It's a great movie for the family.
