Richard Todd delivers a thoroughly winning performance as Peter Marshall, the Scottish-born minister who became Chaplain of the U.S. Senate. While still a boy, Peter wants only to go to sea. But as a young man he experiences a profound awakening which leaves him with the unwavering conviction that he has been called upon to do the Lord's work. He completes his religious training in the United States, where he presides over several congregations. Have seen this movie on TV at least 5 times beginning about 1965. Love, love, love it. Still makes me cry. Highly recommend it, entertaining with both humor and seriousness.

Recommend highly. The book is wonderful. Richard Todd’s portrayal is marvelous. Both book and movie a must!

Just seen this old movie at my church.it is so goodđź‘Ť...someone ask below..where was he when he died...he was in DC...AT the capitol..he was the Chappell...so good
