About this movie

From visionary Oscar®-nominated director Tim Burton (EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY) comes the outrageous true story of one of the most extensive art frauds in the 20th century. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Walter Keane (two time Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz of DJANGO UNCHAINED) revolutionized the commercialization of popular art with enigmatic paintings of waifs with big eyes. But soon the shocking truth was discovered: Walter's works were not painted by him at all, but by his wife Margaret (five time Oscar®-nominee Amy Adams of AMERICAN HUSTLE). BIG EYES focuses on the success of Margaret's paintings and her tumultuous relationship with her husband, who catapulted to international fame while taking credit for her work. Also starring Danny Huston (X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE), Krysten Ritter (TV's DON'T TRUST THE B---- IN APT. 23), Jason Schwartzman (MOONRISE KINGDOM), and Terence Stamp (THE ART OF THE STEAL).

I have a very nice collection of "Big Eyes" children , started for me in the 50-s and 60's. I'm not sure why, but it all started when I got a 'big girl bed' and the furniture was all _French Provencial_ Momma bought me the paintings for my two little rooms the frames seemed to all be in the French Provincial too. I had NO CLUE as to their back story whatsoever! This movie was just wonderful. Powerful. I reccomend it to the held down woman, to the artist to the art lover. FOUR of my paintings are ORIGINALS!

My aunt had some authentic paintings and they scared me as a child. I refused to walk down the stairs if it was dark because of being so scared. I finally figured out a way to avoid passing by the paintings until she moved them to the cabin we went to during the summer. There was no way to avoid them there. It was interesting to learn more about the craze these caused.

I absolutely loved Tim Burton's spin on this! Some of the shots were just beautiful to look at with a classic Tim Burton twist but like Margaret Keane's paintings-you get the feeling there's something more going on underneath. I honestly didn't know how to feel about him doing a bio-pic but you felt his respect for this woman and her craft throughout. Wonderful film for anyone whose ever felt left-of-center, forgotten about, bullied, harassed, or abused to stand up for yourself and be honest no matter what
