The show is based on lies and misinformation. There is no huge demand for venom and especially not the venom collected in the field. Brian and Chewy actually violated wildlife laws in Australia. There are two companies one Venom Supplies that provide plenty of Australia based venoms legally and under laboratory conditions. None of their venom was used in research. The Oklahoma group collect for snakes skins and rattlesnake roundups their venom is not used by BTG for the production of CroFab the only approved antivenom in the USA or by Red Rock Biologics that make the rattlesnake dog vaccine. So the venom is not saving anything. We sell Crotalus atrox venom for $100.00 per freeze dried gram collected under laboratory conditions. Three or four snakes produce very little venom. We maintain 500 adult captive born Crotalus atrox for extraction and have many that have been on the venom line for 20 plus years. Far from being liquid gold as misstated in this show. In my 40 years working with venoms I had never heard of these two groups. Discovery has again conned its viewers with lies and misinformation.
