First, the TV story line does not follow the books exactly line by line, and as an adaptation that's what one should expect. The writers kept the essence of the story but took liberties and made changes. No small or large screen production stays 100 percent true to the book. The adaptation to the small screen causes some anticipation and wonder about what will happen next. Second, you can tell the seasoned actors from the newcomers. The characters portrayed by Magnus, Luke and Valentine are well done. You can tell they have been around the block a time or two and portray their characters well. The characters that portray Alex, Isabelle and Simon follow as the second best set of actors. Seasoned yet still learning. Their acting is not over the top or too dramatic. The character Clary overacts most of her scenes. If the directors were aiming for her to play the role of a drama queen with overt feelings of self entitlement they succeeded. She needs to tone down the drama. In a nutshell she could takes cues from Simon. Strictly from an entertainment point of view the show is alright. It's a good way to waste an hour each week. Nothing award worthy, but still fun to watch.

The show was moving quite slow and did not move fast enough as other shows on freeform like Stitchers. Freeform needs to fix that problem because at times it gets quiet boring and it seems like the characters are saying stuff over and over again. The show does not even make each episode after the next more interesting as other freeform shows. It seems as though it is just going in circles for a lot of episodes in my case.

Just because something is not like you expect it to be does not mean it's not good this show is really good I would give this show a 5 star rating any day of the year even if it was everyday I will continue to watch The Shadowhunters until the very last episode and I like the characters that play Jace and clary more than the ones in the movie the series characters are way better than the movie characters. Never let other people tell you what to think just let them help you out sometimes. Just be yourself.😘
