The Walking Dead: World Beyond

It gets a little better after the first episode which consists mostly of characters talking about feelings and walking. And more talking. There's a few scenes in the middle with people conversing, bookmarked by some chatting, and then some exposition, and finally some more talking. There's a flashback or two to show that something bad happened to the world (which I figure you knew going in) but no kidding, the first episode is almost entirely of people talking and looking sad. Get past that first episode which will have you thinking this is some art school study in subdued melancholy, and it almost gets watchable. Almost. This is only connected to TWD in the loosest sense. Yes, there is a shared world with TWD (about a decade after some poor sheriff wakes up in a hospital) but it could have easily been any other zombie universe . There's the stock veneer of normalcy over the horror of a zombie apocalypse. There's a military faction taking over control. There are improvised weapons and armor. There are strained attempts not to mention the word "zombies". Nothing particular original as we've seen these all before. The problem is that after three episodes it doesn't really get any better. Instead of action there's just kids sitting around and talking. Or walking around and talking (ahh, the "walking dead" now makes sense). One particular scene could have been nail-biting except that they literally put it slow motion which managed to rob all tension from the scene. Then it's back to sitting in a room and talking. I get it, characters are sad. Characters have back stories and they are damaged. But at some point I want the characters to do something other than moping around talking.

World Beyond? World beyond writing a good story. This show was meant to show us how the world has changed, taking place 10 years after the end of 'The Walking Dead', which will end with it's eleventh season. However, poor writing of both the characters, and story make this show mediocre at best. It starts out with 26 different more notable characters, ones that the show wants you to focus on, or care about, which is a huge mistake. Adding multiple characters as once leads to all sorts of problems such as poor backstory, horrible character development, and so on. I hoped this show could give us a little insight to whatever happened later on, but so far, I'm very disappointed. Luckily for them, the show has just begun, so they have a chance to redeem themselves. If the writers and directors can find that sweet spot, this show could become much better; but I doubt it. Our review is 2/5 - as the show progresses, we will determine if this rating should change, or stay.

Sorry but this one so far has been soooo boring and stupid. I cant stand when they cast kids that cant act. This show might be ok for kids in thier early teens but not for us 30+
