It was very disappointing. For those of us in the Christian and Jewish faith, this is truly an offensive portrayal of an important account of events in our faith. It is unfortunate that the entertainment industry is compelled to apply western culture and humanistic values to a Biblical story. The screenwriters developed a fictionalized account of 1 Samuel; portraying women as irreverent and unable to control their lustful desires, Samuel is a politically ambitious/delusional murderer, and Saul is a misunderstood honorable man. I am fairly certain that the writers attempted to apply their limited understanding of this Biblical story using their own value system. I do not think it was a mistake that the writers neglected to leave out important details within the story, such as God. Again, for those of us that are Jewish or Christian, don't waste your time.

They've done many shows and movies about King David, and why not? It's a great story filled with sex, murder, betrayal, adultery and let's not forget God. This production is so far the best attempt to capture the biblical story of King David. Although, they've only have two episodes available I'm anxious to see how they capture the relationship between King David and God. It's a complicated one, and if they fail at that, then they fail to make this a show worth watching. After all God says, about David, "You're a man after my own heart." Here is a murderer, an adulterer and an incredibly sinful man. David kept repenting, and trying to do the will of God, but often failed, but he kept trying. Now, we'll just have to wait and see if they are capable of capturing that relationship. So far they've failed to even mention God and David's relationship which although the production is good, they just haven't really brought God into the fold yet. We'll know by how they tell the story about King Soul, and how God abandoned him because he committed some really bad sins against God directly. That's why I've only given this two starts. I'll update my rating as the show continues.

Great production value and Ray Winston. I am in. Though it does not follow the exact letter of the Bible it is very interesting to watch. Let me remind those who scoff try to remember "Noah" and how the rock creatures helped Russel Crow build the ark. This is so much better.
