There's always a danger when producing a remake, of creating something inferior. It's happened more often than not. That said, despite one or two of the characters seemingly at odds with the original descriptions of them in the books, this is a beautifully acted remake. Heartwarming. Period realistic, and with a cast playing their roles to perfection. After just five episodes, I'm in for the long haul. To all those involved, I say "Bravo!"

The original is and always will be a classic, but this is a worthy remake. Beautiful photography. Great performances. Strong set design. A lovely trip back in time.
