About this movie

Grossing the highest box-office of any British film in the US when released in 1975, this “cult classic” comedy from the Monty Python team loosely follows the legend of King Arthur (Graham Chapman), along with his squire (Terry Gilliam) and his Knights of the Round Table (John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin), as they embark on a fearless quest in search of the elusive Holy Grail. A hysterical, historical tour-de-force from Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones.

I first saw it in Fort Stewart, Georgia, with a bunch of friends in the military. I laughed so hard I nearly passed out. I had to be given something for my heart rate because it was beating way too fast. Years later, I showed it to some family, and it went so completely over there heads that they thought it was the most stupid movie ever made. And I responded that's the point yet it still zoomed over there heads. I showed them "The Wall" and "Clockwork Orange" and still didn't get it. Yet they said I was off in the head.

I may sound loony but this is my favorite Arthurian film that gives honor to the legend whilst mocking it at every turn. The Late Graham Chapman gives dignity to Arthur as well as humor and will be missed by fans. His passing of AIDS in 1989 was sad but to me was "just a flesh wound."
