About this movie

Mark Wahlberg stars in Paramount Pictures' inspirational docudrama exploring the remarkable rise of Massachusetts-born lightweight title winner "Irish" Micky Ward. A determined pugilist whose career in the ring was shepherded by his loyal half-brother, Dicky (Christian Bale) -- a hard-living boxer-turned-trainer whose own career in the ring was nearly sent down for the count due to drugs and crime -- perennial underdog Irish Micky rebounded from a disheartening series of defeats to win both the WBU Intercontinental Lightweight title and the WBU Light Welterweight title thanks to a fierce combination of determination and hard work. David O. Russell directs from a script by 8 Mile's Scott Silver and Paul Attanasio (The Bourne Ultimatum).

WELL TO BEGIN WITH, I'M ACTUALLY WATCHING THE MOVIE CALLED *THE FIGHTER*'RIGHT NOW!!; SO IFN Y'ALL FOLKS DON'T MIND, LEAVE ME ALONE FIR AWHILE, SO THAT I CAN FINISH WATCHING THE MOVIE, SO I CAN GIVE YOU MY BEST AND HONEST OPINION OF THE MOVIE CALLED * THE FIGHTER * +!I just Finished watching the movie, and I think I it was just an average type movie, Nothing really special about it. A small town guy who gets the chance to go up against a big name fighter and was lucky enough to beat the Fighter.

Makes a lot of concessions regarding the actual career of Micky Ward. Alters the timeline of events and doesn't even mention his most memorable fight versus Arturo Gatti. Ultimately though its a good heartfelt movie about boxing and family.

Jack Bowers should do a little research, this movie is "NOT" just about a small town kid who gets a lucky chance at a top tier fighter, and beats him. It's about Micky Ward. If you never seen his fights with Arturo Gatti, I suggest watching them first, then watching this movie. It was never mentioned but anyone who knows ANYTHING about boxing knows the story. Great movie, In My Opinion.
