Woody Harrleson, Casey Affleck and Christian Bale were all phenomenal. I'm a motion picture lover and at 46, I've never seen actors play roles quite like this in a movie. Entirely original and anti- stereotype. Woody plays the meanest character I have ever seen him do. Not the cartoonish villian, a genuine s.o.b. scary. Casey really is ptsd to the hilt. Lastly, Christian plays against looks, his nieborhood, friends, family, job, everything in perhaps the most caring and sweet man I can imagine on film.

Loved this movie thought it was another classic Christian Bale movie with a great supporting cast. Great scenery & soundtrack another +. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the ending seemed kind of plain and all the sudden over, leaving the viewer with a lot of questions like what the he'll happens to him. A+ from me

My wife and I love Christian Bale's acting and most of the movies he's in. We also like movies like "The Place Behind the Pines." Small budget but an absolute killer film. Unfortunately, Out of the Furnace was a letdown to us both. It's very slow leaving you waiting for something to happen but nothing really happens. The first half of the movie was great. The second half.... well... not so much.
