About this movie

A critical hit and audience favorite out of the Sundance Film Festival, in DOPE, Malcolm (Shameik Moore) is carefully surviving life in a tough neighborhood in Los Angeles while juggling college applications, academic interviews, and the SAT. A chance invitation to an underground party leads him into an adventure that could allow him to go from being a geek, to being dope, to ultimately being himself. You can't deny once you watch this movie that it is one of if not the best movie of 2015. The cast and the plot hooked me in from the first 10min. A young man from the wood and his 2 friends come into a life they never thought they would experience. Turn it around and make it beneficiary to them. Meeting new friends and making enemies along the way. It's a hilarious rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. #30058 the boy Shameik Moore did his thing. #CLZ WEntertainMusicGroup #WEMG

In the start I was concerned for the development of the characters. However 15 minutes into this film I related to them deeper than my favorite all time movies. Excellent story telling, beyond an accidental masterpiece; this film is intent on making you say "How would I have achieved said glory if I were in his "J's." Love love love the modernist approach to dispensing party favors in said manner. #DreadPirateRoberts

Dope is unique in that it portrays a black neighborhood as dangerous, but manages to avoid making the movie a tragedy. There are so many stories about young minorities who want to get far in life, but are stopped by the dangers of their neighborhood. This movie provides a much-needed success story, and manages to be emotionally invigorating without being too sappy, all while sticking to its unique feel-good humor. Dope is without a doubt the best movie I've seen in a long time.
