In Afghanistan in July 2012, Lorance's orders wound up killing two local men and outraging his platoon. His attempt to overturn his conviction provokes an emotional debate between supporters and opponents that reaches the national stage. "Leavenworth" questions Lorance's case, the legal system at large, and the very notion of justice in the inscrutable circumstances of today's wars.
