It is sub-titled in English, but PLEASE don't let that be a turn off. This is one of the most heart gripping stories of loneliness, being bullied, feeling lost, finding a true friend when you need it the most...but expect it the least & about the unconditional acceptance & happiness true love is meant to be. You will be doing yourself a huge disservice by missing out on this film. Best part is the girl Eli (E-Lee) played by Lina Leanderssen. This is her 1st time acting & she was literally a walk on cast.

This is an excellent movie that does not depend on complicated dialog to tell its story. The acting and cinematography are enough to advance the plot on their own, and the dialog is generally brief. As someone who had seen the American remake several times before discovering this Swedish orignal, I would highly recommnend seeing them both to discover their similarities and contrast their differences. Both are excellent, with this version being edgier, and more forthright about the repressed sexual theme that plays out between the perpetually 12 year old vampire and those that she "let's in".

When my wife and I were trying to decide what movie to watch, and she picked a vampire movie, I thought to myself, "not another boring vampire movie." But this is without a doubt, not only the best vampire movie, but one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. The story is well written and the acting in just amazing. It's hard to imagine that these kids could play such roles. This is a must see! I recommend to any one.
