About this show

THE WHITE QUEEN is a riveting portrayal of one of the most dramatic and turbulent times in English history. A story of love and lust, seduction and deception, betrayal and murder, it is uniquely told through the perspective of three different, yet equally relentless women - Elizabeth Woodville, Margaret Beaufort and Anne Neville. In their quest for power, they will scheme, manipulate and seduce their way onto the English throne. The year is 1464, before the Tudor dynasty ruled the country, and war has been ravaging throughout England over who is the rightful King. It is a bitter dispute between two sides of the same family, The House of York and The House of Lancaster. The House of York's young and handsome Edward IV is crowned King of England with the help of the master manipulator, Lord Warwick "The Kingmaker." But when Edward falls in love with a beautiful Lancastrian commoner, Elizabeth Woodville, Warwick's plan to control the throne comes crashing down. A violent, high-stakes struggle ensues between Elizabeth, her most fierce adversary, Lancastrian Margaret Beaufort, and Anne Neville, the pawn in her father's power game - each woman vying for the crown.

I was skeptical that I would get into this....but low and behold, I watched the first episode on a night I couldn't sleep, I was hooked. I don't watch much T.V. but I waited day and night, all week to be able to get my alone, sit down time with The White Queen! There are no words to describe how deep into this I got. When in school, I never could wrap my head around the history that was taught. I just could not understand, this may not be completely an accurate portrait of how history played out, but it was one of a few things in the past ten years that has opened the part of my brain to picture and understand a little better things that I read about back in the day, that I never truly could understand. Since, I have fallen in love with history, it truly captivates me. I was heart broken, that this not only ended WAY too soon, but that one thing that kept me excited day to day, that "me" time I so much needed, was gone. I sure hope they continue with the books! Though I no longer get stars, I can wait til I can order them!

Even though some of the history was wrong, I still enjoyed the show immensely. It was cast well. I think it moved a little fast, but I gave it 5 stars anyways just because I thought it was that good.

One of the best series I've seen in a long time. I only wish they would've continued it.....continued the story on into the next generation. It was a mastery of Phillipa Gregory's novel, and then some.
