About this movie

11-year-old orphan, Félicie (Elle Fanning) has one dream – to go to Paris and become a dancer. Her best friend Victor (Nat Wolff) an imaginative, but exhausting boy with a passion for creating has a dream of his own, to become a famous inventor. In a leap of faith, Victor and Félicie leave their orphanage in pursuit of their passions. But – there’s a catch, Félicie must pretend to be the child of a wealthy family in order to gain admittance to the prestigious and competitive Opera Ballet School in Paris. And with no professional dance training, she quickly learns that talent alone is not enough to overcome the ruthless, conniving attitudes of her fellow classmates, led by the devious Camille Le Haut (Maddie Ziegler). Determined to succeed, Félicie finds her mentor in the tough and mysterious school custodian, Odette (Carly Rae Jepsen) who, along with Victor’s encouraging friendship, help her reach for the stars.

I couldn't help but be reminded of the classic film "The Karate Kid," especially during her training montage. It's a cute film and inoffensive for the most part, though some parents will object to the deception Felicie undertakes to gain her position. A few toilet humor type jokes are also included. Fun music, a cute plot, and a "follow your dreams" message make this an enjoyable, but forgettable film.

If you want a simple funny movie that can inspire you then this is it. It can be a little illogical at times but that's part of the charm. If you go into it expecting a wildly inspirational movie then you are going to be disappointed. But it is worth your time. The main character is cute fun and lovable. She learns to dance because she wants to and she finds out why she wants to. She never loses her kindness and finds out what's right and wrong. Most of all she doesn't let her past control her. The villain is a little laughable. This isn't a terrible movie. Not the best movie either but definitely worth your time. If you don't mind it being a little corny at times then you'll like it.

I hate animated movies. Animation seriously, this could have been filmed. Turn off your computers movie makers and start filming. While you're at it, make this movie more mature without any R or NC-17 ratings in the future. I am not saying this is rated R or NC-17 though people, it's PG as it should be. Clean and cute though. This movie is so immature and boring.
