About this movie

The beloved three-hankie tearjerker starring 1970s teen heartthrob Robby Benson and Lynn-Holly Johnson, ICE CASTLES is a classic story of love triumphant over tragedy. Alexis "Lexie" Winston (Johnson) is a pretty teenage figure skater and Olympic hopeful who seems destined for greatness. Encouraged by her coach Beulah (superbly portrayed by Colleen Dewhurst), Lexie strives to be her best. Her father (Tom Skerritt) has his misgivings, but Lexie skates her way to the finals. Just as Lexie's headed for the top, she suffers a freak accident. With the love and support of her childhood sweetheart, Nick Peterson (Benson), Lexie transforms her personal misfortune into a heartbreaking victory. Powered by a swelling Marvin Hamlisch score and Melissa Manchester's smash hit theme song, "Through the Eyes of Love," ICE CASTLES is an inspirational drama guaranteed to leave a lump in your throat. My fav. Of any movie accept Endless Love and the original Blue Lagoon may be compared to this movie and closest is Officer and a gentlemen. All gems and great acting and story lines all different but the live is equal. All must see worth watching. The soundtracks are as beautiful and all timeless classics still.Just beautiful love stories of love, life's turmoil and tragic events, but in the end love prevails and tissue box is needed. These flixs wil be cherished -yet, again with new viewers eyes!

This movie, as old as it may seem, can never be replicated. You seldom see movies like this nowadays, and if you did, keep it in your library for your next generations to see. It is timeless.

Beautiful in every sense. From the love story to falling and then ultimately getting up because of the help of those you love. And those who truly love you. <3
